Home-Start HOST Baby Bank Charity, Audenshaw

When a Mailbox Products delivery arrives at a warehouse, it typically means industrial materials handling solutions are being delivered.

On Friday 19th June, a Mailbox Product delivery to Home-Start HOST Baby Bank in Audenshaw meant something a little different, it meant helping a charity organise the donated items that go on to support hundreds of vulnerable families across Greater Manchester.

We visited Home-Start HOST Baby Bank to see their work first-hand and to understand how our products play a small but practical part in a much bigger story.

Home-Start Baby Bank collects and distributes clothing, toys, baby equipment, and everyday essentials to families experiencing poverty and hardship by supporting children from newborn up to 10 years of age. Support is provided through referrals from healthcare professionals and other agencies, ensuring that help reaches the families who need it most.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of staff and long-standing volunteers work tirelessly to sort, check and prepare every donated item before it leaves the warehouse. The care that goes into this process was evident throughout our visit, perhaps most visibly in a beautifully presented Moses basket, prepared with the kind of attention that makes a difficult time feel a little more bearable for the family receiving it.

The scale of the need

Last year alone, Home-Start HOST Baby Bank processed over 1,000 referrals. That figure speaks for itself - both in terms of the levels of need within the community and the significant, sustained effort the charity makes to meet it.

Mailbox's contribution

During our visit, Mailbox donated a number of storage boxes for the charity's warehouse racking system. It's a very practical contribution, one that directly supports the team's ability to organise and manage the volume of donations flowing through their facility, helping them work more efficiently and get more items to more families.

A learning experience for us

It’s truly humbling to support organisations like @Home-Start HOST Baby Bank. The work they do, day in, day out makes a real difference to the lives of children and families. We're proud that Mailbox Products played a small part.
