About Simpler Recycling

From 31st March 2025, UK law will require all business in England with 10+ employees to separate waste into four specific streams. Get recycle-ready with Mailbox bins, boxes and trolleys.

Simpler Recycling is a reform to the recycling system. It means that people across England will be able to recycle the same materials, whether at home, work or school, ending confusion over what can and cannot be recycled in different parts of the country.

From 31st March 2025, it becomes law for all businesses, charities and public sector organisations in England with 10+ employees (including healthcare establishments and academic institutions) to sort their waste for recycling.

To comply with Simpler Recycling requirements, waste must be sorted into four streams:Mailbox has a wide range of products designed for waste collection and separation, providing everything you need to:

• Comply with the new law and avoid fines
• Streamline waste management
• Enhance your sustainability commitment

So whether you are a business or trade waste collection provider, we’re here to help.

About Simpler Recycling
The UK has committed to being ‘net zero’ by 2050.  This means no longer adding to the total amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane. CO2 is released when oil, gas and coal are burned in homes, factories and to power transport. Methane is produced through farming and landfill, as well as other sources.

Reaching net zero will involve major changes for governments, businesses and individuals, but one way we can all help right now is by improving the amount we recycle.

The recycling journey
The UK is on a recycling journey to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. The Simpler Recycling law is a positive step to help companies (and by 2026 households too) streamline the way they handle waste.  It will also standardise the way waste is collected and treated.

By focusing on clear waste separation, Simpler Recycling regulations improve the quality and quantity of recyclable materials by reducing contamination.  Increasing recycling rates drives down CO2 production and brings the net zero target closer.

Compliance and a commitment to sustainability are something for your business to be proud of – Simpler Recycling is the way ahead.

The recycling roadmap
Simple, cost-effective solutions like indoor and outdoor recycling bins are a great way to act quickly and support a more environmentally-responsible way of living and working.

What’s more, they offer an excellent return on investment – buy now, set up quickly, and use well into the future.

But have you considered that they also enhance the office, factory, staffroom or workplace?  No more unsightly cans or wrappers littering the space, instead they can be placed quickly into convenient bins, clearly labelled with the new Simpler Recycling collection streams to avoid confusion:

• Residual (non-recyclable) waste
• Food waste (mixed with garden waste if appropriate)
• Paper and card
• All other dry recyclable materials (plastic, metal, glass)

By making them an integral part of the way your business operates, you don’t only improve your company environmental credentials but also help the whole world!

And choosing Mailbox as your Simpler Recycling partner means you have a huge range of colourful options to choose from.
